What is an Emirati kandura? A buyer’s introduction

The name “kandura” is commonly used in the UAE for the long garment worn by Emirati men. Experience Abu Dhabi’s national-dress guide describes it as part of traditional public dress. Online shops may also use “thobe” when describing related garments.

Names are a starting point

A regional name does not tell you everything about a garment’s construction. Inspect the neckline, sleeve finish, front opening and pockets. Ask about manufacturing origin separately if it matters to you; an inspired design name is not proof of where a garment was made.

Compare products by their current descriptions

At Sahara Styles, use the current product title and photographs when browsing men’s thobes. Some older URLs may contain a different style name from the current listing. The product page’s current details and size options are the information to compare.

Our Omani collections include rounded neckline details, with contrast embroidery on some styles and tonal stitching on others. The White Saudi Thobe offers a different stand-collar and chest-pocket design.

Fit remains product-specific

Check the thobe size guide and ask about missing measurements before buying. Do not transfer a size from another retailer or regional style without comparing it. For care, follow the label on the garment rather than assuming all kanduras or thobes use the same fabric.
